This week Sarah and myself had the absolute pleasure of testing with Codie from First Model Management. I have been waiting and hoping I would get the chance to shoot with Codie and on Monday it became a reality. She is simply stunning and I cannot wait for the final images but here are a few behind the scenes shots for now.
Absolutely thrilled to find out that our latest test shoot was featured in Januarys Beauty edition. For this we used the stunning Lily Thorn from First Model Management and called it modern disco, it was a lot of fun to create.
Such an amazing shoot in a beautiful old school building in Queens Park. We were incredibly lucky with the natural sun light and the models on this job were an absolute pleasure to work with and so Fit, they put me to shame! The photos are fabulous and I always love working with the Sports Direct Team.
This was a test shoot I designed to do with my friend and talented photographer Sarah Rider. The model Lola from First Model Management was a gem and we had fun doing the looks and pushing the boundaries, just a little, the images were published in @Imiragemagazine. Sarah and I have done five test shoots together over the last year, three of which we submitted and all three of them have been published, one by Beau Nu magazine and two by Imirage. Our last test, which I will add to the blog once it is released, is going to be published in @solsticemagazine(Januarys beauty edit), this is a huge achievement and I cannot wait to test again with Sarah in 2019 and see where it takes us. Below are a few images from our Pop shoot.
I got to work with Sophie again, this time it was for the Suns Supplement, Fabulous magazine and was an Editorial shoot. I loved this job as I worked on a fantastic model from New York who was a mature model - @samgold33 but is one of the most talented models I have worked with to date. So beautiful, talented and professional and the job was a true pleasure.
I was invited back by Sports Direct to be lead hair and makeup artist for their Christmas campaign and it was to be shot at Dreamlands in Margate, I didn’t need asking twice. I absolutely love working with the Sports Direct team, they are all very talented and have such creative ideas, it is a pleasure for me to be involved on these shoots and I see it as a privilege. The images are my favourite ones to date! you can see final images in my gallery, under portfolio one
Over the summer I got to shoot on four separate days with Dr Shini Somara, for Sprint, an American communications company. Dr Shini is an absolutely beautiful person, inside and out and on top of this is a truly talented and clever engineer and scientist. She is also spreading the word and encouraging women in Science. I absolutely loved working on these projects and it was a pleasure to get Dr Shini camera ready, whilst learning about 5K technology at the same time!!
I have Followed Katie Jane Hughes for a while now and although she is originally from the Uk she now lives in New York. She posted on her insta story That she would be in the UK and would be doing a master class at Space NK, I went on a mission and was one of the lucky ones who got to attend.
It was a really fab evening and she Is a very talented artist.
This was a full on day, we were on set in Walthamstow at 6.45am, I had six models and it was on location in a cafe. we then moved onto Dalston market and worked out of the van. The boys at We are Dink are always good to work with and the vibe was very good on set. The content ended up being brilliant., check out full images and video at www.wearedink.com
In early September, I got to assist Sophie for Podeny’s Look book. Podeny is a new fashion label by a very talented lady. We got to shoot in a very trendy house in London and the day was a lot of fun and very stylish.
The day after I got back from my summer holiday I got to assist Sophie on a two day Christmas campaign for Feel unique, it felt very strange to be shooting Christmas items and looks, when I had just been bathing in 30 degree heat, but it was a fun shoot and the makeup looks were amazing.
I was asked by Sports Direct if I would like to be lead Hair and makeup artist on the outer wear campaign on a roof top of a multi storey car park in Croydon at the very beginning of August. I jumped at the chance, we had the perfect hot, hot day with little fluffy clouds, (even if I did get chased by a very persistent wasp that I tried to style out but failed miserably:)) this was my favourite shoot so far this year. The images are amazing and made all windows of Sports Direct stores across the country.
Last week I was incredibly lucky and got to assist the immensely talented Sophie Higginson for an editorial shoot for Marie Claire.
It was such a hot day, 34 degrees and we were out in the sun for a part of the shoot but the model was such a pro. She was was wearing thick jumpers and coats as it was a shoot for A/W outer wear, but she didn't complain once! and the photos are absolutely stunning.
watching Sophie work was such dream as she makes it look effortless and the makeup was absolutely beautiful, I learnt a lot and feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to work with such a dream team. Definitely something to aspire too. Below are a few BTS shots:
I got creative again with my good friend and very talented Sarah Rider. We were lucky enough to have access to a new look book of models for first model management so we chose Chloe and got creative, we are very proud to say it has been published in Imirage Magazine, for the full editorial go to www.imiragemagazine.com to order a copy or check them on my feed @lucyjmakeup but here are a few from the shoot:
In June, I was hired by we are dink to shoot an Adidas Campaign for Sports Direct training with a Young Athlete called Alicia Barrett. The shoot was in Chesterfield, near Sheffield so I got the train up the night before and was on the track at 7.30am. It was a boiling hot day and we shot until 12.30. Alicia was a true professional and I can't wait to see the images once released.
Also last Friday I was very lucky to do Hair and Makeup for Maddys Prom. Maddy's Mum Nicola was one of my very first clients when I first started out a couple of years ago and she has been one of my biggest supporters, so I was very honoured to get Maddy ready for her leavers prom.
Below are a few images of hair before and after and her winged out makeup:
On Friday of last week I was very lucky to be invited to Do Make up for Mother of the Groom, Laura and Makeup for Jo who is Girlfriend of the Grooms brother.
It was such a lovely job as the family are gorgeous people, they made me feel very welcome and they both looked stunning at the end, below is a selfie of Jo but I will post official images once I get them:
Last week I got the opportunity to work for @wearedink again, on a adidas back to school campaign for sports direct.
It is always such pleasure working with @wearedink as they are very professional but have fun at the same time, and they always make me feel very much a part of the team and they deliver amazing content.
This shoot was no different, it was a fab location in Islington which was a dis-used music hall which took a while to find.....but once inside was well worth it.
The models were four teenagers who were good fun and the pictures will be fabulous, below is a few onset images:
Last week I was invited by We are Dink to a job in Liverpool. They trained me up on Monday evening so we could be on set for 8am. The client was Under Armour and the model was non other than the very talented and fast rising super star Trent Alexander Arnold. The shoot was amazing and I had a peep into the world of celebrity footballers. The campaign will drop in June so I will keep you posted but for now a sneaky image.
This week I had the ambitious idea of shooting in Margate. I have set my sights on being published in Lucy's Magazine. I asked my super talented friend @sarahriderphoto if she fancied the task of being my photographer for the shoot and happily she said yes.
When I was on the Most curious wedding show I met @peonyvintage who runs an incredible vintage clothes shop in Margate but who also wants to do more styling and model @jessjardim, they both agreed to join us.
The day was crazy and very long but such a good and learning experience, in hind sight I think I planned too much for one day and don't think the images we ended up with are Lucy's, but we have got some incredible shots and we had a brilliant day. I have gained a lot from this shoot and will not give up on my quest. Here are a few location shots, real images will follow shortly.
